August Repertoire Update Featuring 24 Italian Songs and Arias

August Repertoire Update Featuring "24 Italian Songs and Arias"

This month we’ve again expanded the SmartMusic repertoire library with new solos, large ensemble titles, and two methods for pre-band instruments. Please note that the following additions are in new SmartMusic only.

New Solos

We’ve added 78 new solo titles to SmartMusic this month. This includes instrumental pieces from Program Solos (Theodore Presser Company) and vocal pieces from The First Book of Tenor Solos and The First Book of Baritone/Bass Solos (G. Schirmer, Inc.). View all music added this month.

New Large Ensemble Titles and Pre-BandMethods

We’ve also added 34 large and small ensemble titles for band and orchestra, plus two method books, Nuvo WindStars Book 1 and Book 2. These books are created for use with pre-band instruments – and Nuvo instruments in particular.

WindStars Books 1 and 2

Stay tuned as we plan to talk more about pre-band instruments in an upcoming blog post. View all music added this month.

Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias

Our featured content this month is Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias (G. Schirmer, Inc.). This recently-added collection of vocal solos is a classic and one of the bedrock pedagogical foundations for young singers. These Italian solos, from the 17th and 18th centuries, are widely taught in schools and studios around the world. They are frequently used for solo and ensemble festivals, district and state choir auditions, and college scholarship or placement entry.

Titles include:

Alma Del Core Amarilli, Mia Bella Caro Mio Ben
Che Fiero Costume Comme Raggio Di Sol Danza, Danza, Fanciulla Gentile
Gia Il Sole Dal Gange Il Mio Bel Foco Lasciatemi Morire
Le Violette Nel Cor Piu Non Sento Nina
Non Posso Disperar O Cessate Di Piagarmi O Del Mio Dolce Ardor
Per La Gloria D’Adorarvi Pieta, Signore Pur Dicesti, O Bocca Bella
Se Florindo E Fedele Se Tu M’ami Sebben, Crudele
Tu Lo Sai Vergin, Tutto Amor Vittoria, Mio Core

Educators can assign these solos to students for additional practice or as assignments to be assessed. Every solo displays both notation and lyrics on-screen and is fully assessable. If you teach these solos to your entire choir, you’ll welcome having the notation available on the screen.

This collection is now available for the first time ever in SmartMusic and is only found in new SmartMusic.
