SmartMusic Research Grants
MakeMusic is a world leader in music education technology whose mission is to enhance and transform the experience of making, composing, teaching, and learning music.
We are providing grant resources to researchers who examine the efficacy of SmartMusic in a classroom setting. One or two dissertation year grants will normally be awarded each year. We especially invite faculty and graduate students to review and submit the application form.
Several independent studies on the effects of SmartMusic on music education have also been completed. More.
Terms of the SmartMusic Research Grants
Eligibility Applicants should have substantially completed their coursework and be prepared to devote full time to completing their dissertation. Preference will be given to projects that include more than 12 weeks of treatment, and to studies dedicated to providing statistical analysis of SmartMusic in the classroom.
Deadline: September 30. The Committee will notify applicants in writing of its decision within approximately four weeks after the deadline date.
Terms: Awardees will receive up to 100 SmartMusic subscriptions for the purposes of the research and a copy of Finale.
End-of-Grant Reporting Responsibilities: Awardees will provide MakeMusic with the following:
- A copy of any dissertation and/or other published work written or substantially prepared during the grant period.
- A statement of about 1,500 words which describes the awardees' dissertation. Awardees give MakeMusic the right to publish the statement if it chooses to do so.
