Foundations and nonprofits
Schools, as well as individuals or associations that lack tax-exempt status should apply for funding opportunities through nonprofits. Larger nonprofits will often use the federal grant money they have received to fund another program in line with the stipulation of the grant. Most states, as well as some large communities, have an Arts Commission website. Search www.arts.state.(your state).us (Example: for Minnesota go to www.arts.state.mn.us)
Government
Many government foundations make grants available to incorporated nonprofit organizations. This could include the local Arts Commission for your state or community. It’s a good idea to start with your local municipalities (governed by your mayor and/or your city council). Here is some information about how they could finance your project.

Businesses, corporations, or unions may offer financial support for educators and students in their community.
